Doug Mikula is quite a familiar name in the Asbury music scene promoting original music. Since 1997 Doug has been writing and playing music in his own bands as well as other bands in area venues like The Stone Pony and The Saint.
With his ecclectic style, he has performed at Birdland and CBGBs in NYC, on stage with Chris Barron of the Spin Doctors, and in Hollywood Ca. But he could be also be found playing worship music at a local church or jamming with friends.
In 2005 he recorded a CD of instrumental guitar that was heard by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Committee. As a result, he made the official ballot for the 2006 Grammy Awards and was nominated for five categories including Best New Artist.
Grammy listing
For its 2010-2011 season, Doug has also been lead guitarist for Asbury Park's Revision Theater's plays including Tommy, Little Shop of Horrors, Xanadu, Spring Awakening, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Currently Doug continues to write and play, and gives lessons privately and at music studios in the Jersey Shore area.
